V-Belts will last longer and perform better if they are given proper care and attention. Here’s some tips from us: Proper V-belt care: → Check pulley alignment. Incorrect alignment may dramatically shorten belt life. → Ensure the pulley main components are well lubricated at all times. → Pay attention to the pulley grooves, they should all be the same dimensions. → Check the pulleys for any abrasions and remove any rust, dirt or grease that may negatively affect belt life. → Ensure all components are free from debris buildup to allow maximum heat dispersal. Proper V-belt installation: → Locate the belt by moving the motor. → Put belts onto the pulleys one by one, start with the driving pulley. → Do not use a lever to force belts onto pulleys, instead slowly turn the belt onto the pulley to install it. → Apply tension to prevent slippage. Run at full load for 5 minutes and re-tension. If necessary, re-adjust tension after belts have been in operation a few days. → Do not combine new and used belts in the same set. Unbalanced stretch will shorten belt life. |
